Drug-Food Interactions Test





1. A food a person eats does not affect the success of a drug on the body.

2. Drugs taken for an illness can affect the nutritional well being of a person.

3. A person does not have to worry about the amount of alcohol he drinks when he is taking medications.

4. The elderly, children and the chronically ill have the highest risk of problems with their diet and their medications.

5. Some foods can prevent the absorption of antibiotics so it is best to take them on an empty stomach.

6. Aspirin can irritate the stomach so it is best to take it with food.

7. It is a good idea to take vitamins while on oral contraceptives since they can interfere with the absorption of nutrients.

8. It is not necessary to talk with a doctor about the way a medicine and food work together when he prescribes a new drug.

9. Always ask if any foods should be avoided, whether the drug will affect the appetite, and whether the drug should be taken with or without food.

10. Ask the pharmacist for directions on taking any new medicines prescribed.
