Proper Lifting

Instructions: Type in Your Complete Name in the section below.  When you have finished the test, then select the Submit button. Once the Submit button is pressed you will be redirected to a Completed Test Page. Your test will be graded and credited toward your annual training hours.

Proper Lifting Test





1. Proper lifting technique is important to use to avoid injury to the back, legs or arms.

2. It is not important to make a plan before you lift something heavy.

3. You will be a stronger, and more stable lifter if the object is held close to your body rather than at arm's length.

4. A person must keep his feet about shoulder width apart and should take short steps when lifting properly.

5. Proper lifting requires a person to bend over and lift with his back.

6. Keep your spine straight and raise and lower by bending your knees when lifting.

7. Tightening your abdominal muscles will hold your back in a good lifting position and will help prevent excessive force on the spine.

8. Your back muscles are many times stronger than your leg muscles.

9. Keeping your eyes focused upward helps to keep your back straight.

10. Get help if you are straining.
